Continuing The Spirit Of Ramadan Throughout The Year

The arrival of Syawal is a reminder that Ramadan has left us – along with all its blessings and special benefits such as fasting, the ni’mah of performing terawih prayers and the anticipation of the night of Lailatul Qadar.

Despite that, we should not mourn the passing of Ramadan. Instead, we should strive to continue to enliven the spirit of Ramadan by making the acts of worship that we performed in Ramadan, a habit in our daily lives.

In line with this, we should ensure that the values we have learned during Ramadan continue to be applied in our daily lives as well. Throughout the month of Ramadan, we have been constantly reminded of the importance of building a family that holds on to Islamic values and traditions, a family that is truly loves Allah and His Messenger. And we must continue on with these efforts in order to build a successful family.

If one is to know that it will be one’s last opportunity to perform good deeds, one will definitely appreciate every second to do so. Every deed and act of worship will be done to the best of one’s ability, to ensure that it is more meaningful and of a high standard.

Perhaps we often feel that we have made lots of doa, not just for ourselves but also for the well-being of our family members, our local community as well as the global community, but we feel that our prayers and our wishes have yet to be answered. Thus, we need to embark on self-reflection, have we truly obeyed Allah s.w.t?

Khutbah Title: Health As A Blessing, And An Amanah. [11 July 2014]

Our health is an amanah from Allah, a blessing that Allah has entrusted upon us. Sadly, many do not take this seriously. However, without good health how can we perform our acts of worship properly? How would we be able to contribute our energy toward the betterment of the ummah? How would we be able to fulfil our daily responsibilities as a husband, father and a son?
