Asatizah Executive Development Programme (AEDP)

A modular training programme designed to provide asatizah with the skills and knowledge needed in performing the multiple, distinct roles to shape religious life of Singapore Muslim community.


What is the Asatizah Executive Development Programme (AEDP)? 

The Asatizah Executive Development Programme (AEDP) is a unique, modular based development programme, for all certified asatizah under the Asatizah Recognition Scheme (ARS). This programme covers 5 areas delivered through lectures, study trips, workshops, discussions and dialogues.

Why should I attend AEDP?

Asatizah play a major role in producing a Singapore Muslim community of excellence that is progressive and resilient in its religious and social life and projects a global outlook. This programme which comprises a set of generic essential modules aims to equip asatizah with skills and knowledge in facing the demands and challenges of today and in performing multiple, distinct functions and roles for the community.

What is the course module & schedule? 

The AEDP comprises these modules:

Module 1 - Community Challenges 

To give background insights to the community challenges today, in terms of trends and policies, in the areas of economy, education, employment, social and technology and how the socio-economic and political changes within and beyond Singapore impact the Singapore Muslim Community.

Module 2 – Learning Journey 

To provide learning opportunities and new experiences, in terms of administration, best practices and real-life issues and challenges within the Singapore context, through study trips to various institutions and organisations.

Module 3 - Critical & Creative Approaches in Addressing Contemporary Issues 

To learn various thinking tools and practical approaches as well as skills in addressing contemporary issues and challenges through case studies.

Module 4 - Changing Role of Asatizah 

To enhance the awareness in the changing role of asatizah, in terms of values and ethics, and the importance of having relevant knowledge and skills in this challenging world.

Module 5 - Singapore Muslim Identity (SMI) 

To provide a good understanding of SMI and its relevance to the current context vis-a-vis the national and global challenges, and the role of asatizah in envisioning the community on the SMI.

Course Schedule 

Course is flexibly designed to allow asatizah to pace their learning progress and strike a balance between work and learning. Modules will be scheduled either as once a week over 2 months (run on a 2 cycles per week) or as an intensive 4-day courses (Tuesday-Friday) during the school holidays in March, June, September & December.

Course Details (December 2008) 

Start Date:               17 Dec to 19 Dec (9am - 5pm)

Duration of Course: 3 days + 1 day (learning journey & dialogue session)

Venue:                     Masjid Annahdhah (Level 3, Multipurpose Hall)


Can I attend this programme even though I have no formal religious education?
 

You may apply for this course as long as you’re recognised under the ARS. For more details on this scheme, please refer to:http://www.muis.gov.sg/asatizah.

Can the programme be completed over any period of time? 

Yes. The modular design of this programme allows asatizah to take up any modules at any time to suit their immediate needs at work. However, the programme should be completed within 4 months. 

Do I have to pay for the programme? 

No. The course fee for this programme will be fully subsidised by Muis.
