Introduction Inaugurated in 2002, the Mosque Awards ("MA" in short, formerly known as Mosque Excellence Awards) is now in its fifth year running. Over the years, more than 10 mosques had been awarded for their excellent practices, services, set-ups and programmes. MA has given Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura the opportunity to recognize and appreciate the commendable efforts put in by the mosques in striving to make the place of worship a centre of excellence.
Objectives of Mosque Awards
:: To encourage organizational excellence in specific areas identified for improvement and further development.
:: To instill and strengthen service excellence practices in mosques
:: To measure the level of implementation and achievement on some of the recommendations and strategies made during the Mosque Convention 2005.
New Name
Previously, the award was known as Mosque Excellence Awards (MEA). Starting 2006/2007, the award is simply renamed as Mosque Awards (MA) in order to differentiate it from the Mosque Excellence System (MES).
Automatic participation
Beginning 2006, mosques participation shall be automatic and thus all mosques shall have the opportunity to be assessed.
Recognition
The awards distinguish the Mosque Management Board as leaders that promotes excellent practices at the mosque. More importantly, it fosters a great sense of pride and accomplishment amongst all in the organisation.
Feedback
It gives the opportunity to have the set-ups and programmes assessed by a neutral selection panel. The mosque will receive valuable feedback that highlights its set-ups and programmes strengths and opportunities.
Centre of Excellence
Being a Mosque Awards recipient, it means that the mosque has attained a certain level of proficiency in relation to this criterion.
:: The awards are open to all mosques in Singapore
:: Mosques are encouraged to participate in all the categories
