Muis Academy* is established to develop the religious leadership of the future for the Singapore Muslim Community.

The Academy develops and conduct courses and trainings to build capacity in shaping the progressive religious life of the community.  It is a key platform that supports the vision of establishing a Muslim community of excellence for Singapore.

Formed in 2006, it’s niche is to provide training programmes for Muis’ institutions and stakeholders such as the mosques, madrasahs, zakat(Islamic tithe), waqf (endowment), Hajj, and offer courses on Islamic learning and  contemporary issues in the Islamic world for all.   

The academy also serves as the repository of Singaporean Muslim’s collective experience and knowledge in managing religious affairs in a multi-religious and secular setting. It serves as a conduit for Muis to share Singapore's model of religious administration and services, expertise and technology to Muslim communities in the region and beyond.

Muis Academy offers niche advance level courses on Islam in the Modern World to religious leaders, public officers and corporate leaders in partnership with reputable universities and institutes of higher learning.

Muis Academy shares Singapore’s experience of religious administration and services with Muslim communities abroad.

The recent Singapore International Wakaf Conference, jointly organized with Islamic Development Bank and Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation has offered Muis Academy opportunities to extend technical assistance in the following areas:

  • Zakat & Wakaf administration and management

  • Wakaf development and administration

  • Haj management system

  • Madrasah & Islamic education

Muis Academy has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Awqaf Foundation of South Africa to collaborate on capacity building in areas of wakaf and organizational development for the South African region.

Kuwait Awqaf Public Foundation has offered Muis Academy to conduct training courses for Wakaf administrators and regulators for the Asia-Pacific region.

Muis Academy has conducted an orientation and learning journey programme to share Singapore’s mosque management, systems and programmes to mosque officials and imams from the State of Terengganu, Malaysia. 


Building on the MOUs and strategic partnership, both locally and internationally, Muis Academy will offer the following programmes:

  • Specialist Diploma in Teaching with National Institute of Education, Singapore

  • Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies with Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University

  • International Leaders Programme for Muslim Minority Community with Islamic Development Bank

  • Waqf Training for Regulators & Administrator with Kuwait Public Awqaf Foundation
