- To distribute the Zakat in the most efficient, fair and transparent manner as prescribed in the Quran.
Our Zakat Collection Centres (Mosques as Amil) are part of Muis' extended services which aims to provide "one-stop" information, collection of Zakat Fitrah and Zakat on wealth payments (such as savings, gold, business, shares. investment, insurance and CPF savings), as well as donations (such as MBMF, Dana Madrasah, etc).
Our Zakat officers at the mosques assist not only in Zakat collections but also Zakat promotion and public education, banking, servicing customers on enquiries and transactions for all other Muis' products.

WHY FULFIL ZAKAT THROUGH MUIS?
1. In Accordance with Al-Quran and Sunnah
The distribution of Zakat is not the individual’s responsibility, but refers to the responsibility of the authority tasked with the matters of Islam from the Islamic community. This was the practise shown by Rasulullah (saw) and the khalifah who appointed Zakat officers during their own era. In Singapore, Muis is the organisation responsible for the welfare of the Islamic community including the Zakat system.
2. Laws and Statutes
Under the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA), in Section 68 (1), Muis has the power to collect Zakat and Fitrah payable in Singapore in accordance with the Muslim Law. In addition, Section 69 (1) states that Muis, with the approval of the Minister, may make rules for and regulate all matters in connection with the collection, administration and distribution of Zakat and Fitrah.
3. Assured and Objective Disbursement
Zakat should be disbursed to the 8 asnaf which are the groups of people entitled to receive Zakat. This is in accordance with the Syari’ah law in Surah At-Taubah verse 60. InsyaAllah, Muis is capable of disbursing your Zakat to all eight asnaf so that those who receive your Zakat contribution are the rightful recipients.
4. Empowering Disbursement System
Muis provides additional assistance on top of the many social schemes readily available at the National level. Poor and needy families who are eligible for Zakat asistance will receive monthly cash grants. In addition, they can also receive study grants and fidyah vouchers.
ZakatEmpower: Targetted at abled-bodied Zakat beneficiaries to achieve self reliance.
ZakatProgress: Focus on developmental needs of children of needy families to break the poverty trap.
ZakatUplift: For individuals who need long-term assistance to remain in the community.
5. Easy Payment Methods
There are many ways for you to fulfil your Zakat contribution through Muis. Besides going to Muis, you can also make payment at the many mosques in Singapore, through the AXS stations which are located islandwide, 24 hours through the internet via eNets Debit, via cheque or monthly installments through Giro.
6. Professional and Responsible
The administration of Zakat collection and public education from Muis was awarded the international recognition of IS0 9001:2000 on the 13th of May 2008. In addition, Muis has been awarded the Singapore Quality Class, People Developer Singapore and Singapore Service Class.
7. Reduction of Income Tax With Zakat
Since 2005, Muis has introduced the IRAS auto-inclusion scheme for Zakat payers who wish to declare their Zakat contribution. Under section 14(1)(g) of the Income Tax Act, Zakat contribution is an allowable expense which is deductible against the contributor’s income.
