$1.7 Million for Muslim Organisations

MUIS disbursed $1,671,520 in annual grants to 40 organisations for 1419H. This represents an increase of 48% compared to the previous year's annual grant of $1,130,290 to 33 organisations.

The increased amount came in the wake of higher zakat collection for 1419H. Other than the annual grants to organisations, zakat is also channelled towards financial assistance for the poor, dakwah (missionary) programmes, riqab (scholarships), amil and Dana Madrasah.

Areas of Concern

The grants were categorised according to the following areas of concern:

  • Family Development Programmes
  • Special Religious Education
  • Youth Development
  • Special Projects Programme
  • Financial Assistance to the Poor

At least seven organisations were given grants for their youth programmes they are MENDAKI, PERTAPIS, AMP, Kg Siglap Mosque, Al-Khair Mosque, PERDAUS and 4PM. The programmes range from leadership camps, Islamic youth development, mentor schemes to volunteer development.
