Muis Statement on Second ISIS Video featuring Singaporean Megat Shahdan (Abu Uqayl)
1 January 2018
- The latest video by ISIS is a desperate attempt to recruit individuals to cause carnage in its name and to sow discord between Muslims and non-Muslims. When Megat Shahdan, a Singaporean, first appeared in a video in September2017, Muis had condemned ISIS’ message of mindless violence and killing. ISIS’ message blatantly disregards the sanctity of human life that Islam strives to preserve and protect. Muis maintains its position unequivocally.
- Muis strongly urges Muslims not to share such materials if they come across them. Such videos prey on the minds of the weak, or those who do not have proper religious guidance. We must continue to stand together and stop the spread of ISIS’ dangerous propaganda. When in doubt about the validity of religious claims made in such videos, one should consult a credible asatizah.
- Against ISIS’ poisonous ideology of hatred and violence, Muslims around the world continue to rally with all other communities for peaceful societies that respect diversity and cherish progress and development, in keeping with the Islamic teachings of bringing blessings to all.
