Media Statement - Muis Response on Detention and Restriction Orders
19 Aug 2016
- In response to queries from the media, Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir, Director, Religious and Policy Development, Muis, said: ““Extremist and exclusivist ideas can be propagated in many ways, over the Internet or the airwaves. It is important that the community continue to be vigilant to the dangers posed by these ideas. I wish to emphasise that there can never be a substitute for a proper learning support network of peers, family and especially credible local teachers who are registered under the Asatizah Recognition Scheme.
- This latest incident clearly demonstrates the danger of learning from open sources such the Internet, social media, TV or radio programmes without having a credible teacher as a guide. Muslims here should receive their religious education and guidance from local asatizah registered under the ARS and consult them if in doubt.”
