An Inheritance Certificate is a document that sets out the shares to which the beneficiaries of the estate of a deceased person are entitled.
In Singapore, the Syariah Court has jurisdiction only to issue an inheritance certificate setting out the shares to which the beneficiaries of the estate of a deceased person are entitled, as provided for under section 115 of the Administration of Muslim Law Act and under section 112 of the same act, the estate of any muslim person shall be distributed according to the Muslim law as modified, where applicable, by Malay custom.
The certificate is issued on the basis of the information given by the applicants. All inheritance certificate application is to be made online only. The administrator of the estate of a deceased person needs this certificate if directed by the Court or the Public Trustee to obtain one.
