Professional development requirement for ARS-certified asatizah.

About CPE
Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is a training scheme to enhance the professionalism of ARS-certified asatizah. Asatizah will need to fulfil a minimum number of credit hours within three years through participation in recognised professional development programmes, in order for their ARS recognition to be renewed. Each individual recognition is valid for three years, starting from the date of approval or renewal.

CPE requirement
ARS-certified asatizah must fulfil the following required hours within the three-year period before their recognition expires:
Tier 1 (Islamic teacher): A minimum of 30 credit hours
Tier 2 (Quranic teacher): A minimum of 10 credit hours

The CPE aims to fulfil the following objectives:

Continuously enhance asatizah’s religious knowledge and contemporary professional skills

Keep asatizah informed on regional and global developments affecting religious communities

Equip asatizah to provide religious guidance relevant to Singapore's context

We take a look at the journey of the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) which spans almost a decade thus far. From its humble beginnings when it was first established in 2012 to the present day, there have been several key milestones in the efforts to develop our asatizah in Singapore. We also have a preview of what's ahead in the implementation of CPE 2.0.
