Student Career and Welfare Office
Supporting Singaporean students pursuing Islamic education overseas.
About us
The Student Career and Welfare Office (SCWO) supports Singaporean students pursuing Islamic studies overseas. What began as a small secretariat in 2004 has grown into a comprehensive support office, providing guidance for students' welfare and career development. The office serves as a dedicated support arm for these students throughout their overseas education journey, helping prepare them for religious roles upon their return to Singapore.
Objectives
Student Engagement Our diverse undergraduate and postgraduate community receives guidance on Singapore's socio-religious landscape, preparing them for future roles as asatizah and working professionals.
Student Development We foster each student's potential through targeted guidance, enabling them to become valuable contributors to both community and nation.
Student Welfare Through partnerships with local and international agencies, we safeguard our overseas students' welfare, safety, and security.
Strengthen Rapport We facilitate regular connections among Singaporean students across regions, cultivating an environment for meaningful dialogue and knowledge exchange.
Student dialogues and engagements

Dialogues and engagements in Southeast Asia (SEA) - 2023
Studying abroad allows one to amass different language, culture and traditions of other societies and makes a religious graduate culturally agile. SCWO recognises that any knowledge acquired is valuable and can be better applied if the experience matches the needs of Singapore society. Hence, SCWO organises workshops and dialogues that would allow students to be familiar with Singapore's present and future context. Some of these workshops include updates on Singapore's statistics and policies, inter and intra-faith discourse and navigating religion and state.
