Haj 2026 [1447H] Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

After obtaining the Medical Health Certificate and accepting the LOI via MyHajSG portal, a Letter of Offer (LOO) notifies eligible applicants that they have been offered a place to perform Haj 2026 (1447H), based on their position in the queue. Applicants must purchase their Haj package from a MUIS-authorised travel agent before the stipulated deadline.

(a) What is the main objective of this Letter of Offer?

The main objective of this letter is to inform you that you are offered a place for Haj 2026 (1447H) and we would like to know your decision by 15 December 2025.   

(b) I wish to perform Haj 2026 (1447H). What should I do next?

If you wish to perform Haj 2026 (1447H), you must purchase a Haj package through a MUIS-authorised travel agent via the MyHajSG portal by 15 December 2025. Please refer to the ‘Haj Package Purchase Process’ attached with the Letter of Offer to assist you in navigating the MyHajSG portal.

(c) What are the considerations before deciding on a Haj package?

You are advised to refer to recent MOHU circular issued by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, regarding the mandatory health requirements to perform Haj. You should assess the offered Haj packages carefully and select the appropriate travel itinerary that best suits your current health status, availability of leave of absence from work and affordability.

(d) How can I get the information of MUIS-authorised Haj travel agents for Haj season 2026 (1447H)?

(e) What should I bring along when I visit my preferred Haj travel agent?

You are required to submit the following documents to your travel agent when purchasing your Haj package:

• A coloured copy of your passport (with at least 6 months before departure date)

• Medical Health Certificate from a registered medical practitioner

• A copy of COVID-19 vaccination certificate; and

• A copy of other vaccination certificates (e.g. Meningococcal and Flu Influenza)

(f) How much should I pay for the purchase of the Haj packages?

Package prices vary by travel agent and package type.

All quoted package prices exclude airfare but include Mashaer services, Emergency Medical Assistance (EMA) appointed by the Association of Muslim Travel Agents Singapore (AMTAS), and mobile medical services in the Holy Lands, provided by the Singapore Pilgrims' Affairs Office (SPAO).

You are required to make 100% payment upon the confirmation of purchasing your Haj package and airfare before 15 December 2025.

(g) What if I want to change my mind about performing Haj 2026 (1447H). Can I postpone to next year or next 2 years?

You can opt to defer your Haj by accessing the MyHajSG portal to indicate your preferred deferment year.

You may log in to the MyHajSG portal and select “I Wish to Defer”. [Applicable only to applicants who have received a Letter of Offer.]

If you have previously deferred, you will not be able to select the 'I Wish to Defer' button as the MyHajSG portal only permits one deferment. To request a deferment, email haj@muis.gov.sg with "Request to Defer for Haj" in the subject line and include:

1. Your NRIC/FIN

2. Registration Number

3. Preferred year to perform Haj

4. Reasons for deferment

(h)  What if I want to cancel my Haj registration due to changes in my current medical condition or financial difficulties?

You can opt to cancel your Haj registration by accessing the MyHajSG portal to indicate your decision.

You may log in to the MyHajSG portal and select “I Wish to Cancel”. [Applicable only to applicants who have received a Letter of Offer.]

(i) Instead of cancelling my Haj registration, can I make an appeal to appoint any of my immediate family members to take over my place?

We regret to inform you that Haj registration is non-transferrable. Hence, you are unable to appoint anyone to take over your place.

(j) If I wish to cancel my Haj registration, can my registration fee be refunded?

Yes, we will process your refund upon receiving your cancellation request. We will contact you within 60 calendar days regarding the refund process.

(k)  What happens if MUIS does not receive my decision or response by 15 December 2025?

If we do not receive your response by 15 December 2025, the offer will expire, and you will be placed back in the current waiting queue. You can contact the Haj Office at 6350 5369 for assistance.

(l) If I do not receive the Letter of Offer by 15 December 2025, what should I do?

MUIS will only be able to confirm the full utilisation of 900 Haj places by 31 December 2025.

If you have not received a Letter of Offer by 15 December 2025, you will remain on the waiting list. You may still receive an offer if places become available, up until the closing date for processing Haj visas on 20 March 2026, as mandated by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Applicants will first receive the Letter of Intent (LOI) serving as a notification on their Haj allocation.

Applicants wishing to proceed must obtain a Medical Health Certificate certifying their medical fitness to undertake the Haj rituals safely before accepting the LOI to confirm their participation via MyHajSG portal.

Applicants who do not wish to perform Haj may seek deferment or cancel their registration via the MyHajSG portal without obtaining the certificate.

A1.     Why has Saudi Arabia introduced these medical health requirements?

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MOHU) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has introduced these medical health requirements to safeguard the well-being of all pilgrims. Haj is a physically demanding journey that involves long walks, high temperatures, and large crowds. These requirements help ensure that applicants are medically fit to perform the rituals safely, while also protecting the well-being of others in Makkah and Madinah.

B1.     What are the medical health requirements?

All applicants must be in good health, free from any of the disqualifying chronic medical conditions, and physically capable of performing the Haj rituals safely. (Refer to Section B2 for the list of disqualifying chronic medical conditions.)

It is mandatory for every applicant to undergo the Haj Medical Assessment, a medical examination conducted by a registered medical practitioner (doctor) in Singapore.

Upon completion of the assessment, the doctor will issue a Medical Health Certificate indicating whether the applicant is Medically Fit or Medically Unfit to perform Haj.

This process ensures that each applicant is well-prepared to undertake the journey safely and responsibly, with due care for their own health and the well-being of fellow pilgrims.

B2.     What are the disqualifying chronic medical conditions that are outlined by MOHU?

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MOHU) has outlined a list of chronic medical conditions that automatically disqualify applicants from performing Haj due to health and safety considerations. These include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Major organ failure (e.g. renal failure requiring dialysis, cardiac failure with symptoms on minimal exertion; chronic pulmonary disease requiring intermittent or continuous oxygen; advanced liver cirrhosis with hepatic failure).

• Severe neurological or psychiatric disorders that impair cognition or are accompanied by significant motor disabilities.

• Advanced age with associated dementia.

• Pregnancy during the final trimester, and high-risk pregnancies at any stage.

• Active communicable diseases that pose risks in mass gatherings (e.g. active pulmonary tuberculosis, viral haemorrhagic fevers).

• Active cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or other forms of intensive immunosuppressive treatment.

Applicants are advised to consult their doctor for professional advice and guidance based on their individual medical conditions. This ensures an accurate assessment of their fitness to perform the Haj rituals safely.

B3.     If applicants have existing common chronic medical conditions such as diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure (hypertension), or high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), are they automatically deemed Medically Unfit for Haj? 

These common chronic medical conditions do not automatically disqualify applicants from performing Haj, if the condition is managed and medical fitness certification is obtained.

Applicants must declare their conditions truthfully during the medical examination for medical assistance purposes during the pilgrimage.

It is important for applicants with such conditions to ensure that their health is well-controlled through proper medication, regular monitoring, and follow-up with their doctor leading up to the pilgrimage.

B4.     Are walking aids such as walking sticks or wheelchairs allowed?

Walking sticks may be permitted for light support. However, applicants who are fully dependent on a wheelchair, scooter, or constant human assistance do not meet MOHU’s medical health requirements, as Haj rituals require walking long distances and moving through large crowds.

C1.       What is the Haj Medical Assessment, and where can applicants complete it?

The Haj Medical Assessment is a mandatory health assessment required for all applicants intending to perform Haj in 2026 (1447H).

The assessment can be conducted by any registered medical practitioner (doctor) in Singapore, who will issue a Medical Health Certificate stating whether the applicant is Medically Fit or Medically Unfit for Haj. Applicants are advised to complete their assessment by 21 November 2025.

For accuracy, it is recommended that applicants visit their regular doctor who is familiar with their health history.

C2.     What should applicants tell the doctor during the Haj Medical Assessment?

Applicants should inform the doctor clearly that the purpose of the visit is to undergo the Haj Medical Assessment for the Haj 2026 (1447H) season. Applicants should also:

• Present their Letter of Intent and NRIC for verification.

• Share details of any existing medical conditions, medications, or mobility concerns to help the doctor make an accurate assessment.

This ensures that the doctor understands the context of the assessment and provides an informed, fair evaluation of the applicant’s health and fitness for Haj.

C3.     What will the doctor assess during the Haj Medical Assessment?

The doctor will conduct an in-person assessment and ask about the applicant’s existing or past medical conditions. Generally, no blood tests or laboratory work is required.

C4.      Who will bear the cost of the Haj Medical Assessment?

The cost of the Haj Medical Assessment will be borne by the applicant. Charges may vary between clinics. Applicants are advised to check with their chosen clinic regarding the exact cost before their visit.

D1.     What happens if an applicant misses the deadline (21 November 2025)?

Failure to complete the Haj Medical Assessment by the deadline will result in the application not being considered for Haj 2026 (1447H). Applicants are encouraged to plan early to avoid disappointment.

D2.       Can the Haj Medical Assessment be done online or through video consultation?

No. All applicants are required to undergo an in-person assessment so that their doctor can properly assess their overall health, mobility, and fitness for Haj.

D3.       How will MUIS know that an applicant has completed the assessment?

The doctor will submit the results directly to MUIS online. Applicants are not required to submit the certificate to MUIS directly.

During the assessment, the doctor is required to complete an online checklist which will be directed to MUIS upon submission. Regardless the outcomes of the assessment, the doctor must issue the Medical Health Certificate to the applicants.

Applicants are advised to safekeep their Medical Health Certificate, as it will be required for verification when purchasing Haj packages from MUIS-authorised travel agents, if they are offered a place to perform Haj.

Failure to produce the Medical Health Certificate will automatically disqualify them from purchasing Haj packages and receiving a Haj visa.

D4.     Will applicants receive a copy of the certificate?

Yes. The doctor will provide either a printed, hand-written, or email copy of the Medical Health Certificate, which must include the doctor’s name, MCR number, signature, clinic name, clinic address, and the date of assessment.

E1.     Does completing the Haj Medical Assessment guarantee selection?

No. The final selection will depend on the applicant’s position in the Haj registration queue.

E2.     What about elderly applicants?

Elderly applicants are encouraged to perform Haj, provided they are certified as medically fit by a doctor. MUIS encourages elderly applicants to prepare early, maintain good health, and ensure that they can manage the journey safely.

E3.     What about pregnant applicants?

Pregnant applicants, particularly those in later stages or with high-risk conditions, are generally not advised to perform Haj. Doctors may recommend deferring Haj for the safety of both mother and child.

F1.     What happens if an applicant is declared medically unfit or chooses not to proceed?

Applicants who are declared Medically Unfit are advised to defer their Haj until their health improves. MUIS understands that this may be disappointing, but safety and well-being of the pilgrims are the top priorities.

Applicants who choose not to proceed for personal reasons may also request to defer their Haj to a later year.

F2.     How can an applicant defer their Haj?  

Applicants may log in to the MyHajSG portal [https://haj.muis.gov.sg] and select “I Wish to Defer”. [Applicable only to applicants who have received a Letter of Intent.]

 F3.     How can an applicant cancel their registration?

Applicants may log in to the MyHajSG portal [https://haj.muis.gov.sg] and select “I Wish to Cancel” to cancel their registration.   

F4.     Can an applicant appeal if declared medically unfit?

Generally, only one medical assessment is sufficient. Applicants may seek a second medical opinion at their own cost, but the final decision will follow MOHU’s medical requirements. Applicants are reminded to declare their health conditions truthfully.

Concealing or misreporting information may affect eligibility and safety during Haj. Medical services in Saudi Arabia may also differ from those available in Singapore.

G1.     What should applicants do after completing the Haj Medical Assessment?

Applicants must log in to MyHajSG portal [https://haj.muis.gov.sg] by 21 November 2025 and select one of the following options:

• "I Accept" - If certified as Medically Fit.

• “I Wish to Defer” or “I Wish to Cancel” - if certified Medically Unfit

G2.    What happens if an applicant’s health changes after being certified medically fit?

If an applicant’s health changes after the assessment, MUIS must be informed immediately. A reassessment may be required to confirm continued fitness to travel. This measure is to protect the applicant’s safety and that of fellow pilgrims.

G3.     Will vaccinations also be required?

Yes. Applicants must comply with vaccination requirements set by the Saudi Ministry of Health, such as meningococcal, pneumococcal, and seasonal influenza vaccines. MUIS will issue a detailed Health Advisory closer to the departure date.

 G4.     How can applicants ensure they receive updates from MUIS?

Applicants should keep their address, mobile number, and email updated in the MyHajSG portal [https://haj.muis.gov.sg]to receive timely notifications and important updates.

H1.     When will applicants know if they are selected?

Successful applicants will receive their Letter of Offer on 1 December 2025 onwards via MyHajSG portal [https://haj.muis.gov.sg].

Selected applicants must purchase their Haj packages from MUIS-authorised travel agents within the stipulated timeframe and present their Medical Health Certificate for verification before purchasing their packages.
