Announcement by Mufti of Singapore on the beginning of Zulhijjah 1441H/2020 for Singapore

Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb.

According to astronomical calculations, the crescent for the month of Zulhijjah was above the horizon this evening after sunset for about 40 minutes.

As such, the first day of the month of Zulhijjah 1441H falls tomorrow, Wednesday, 22 July 2020.

I am pleased to declare that Hari Raya Haji, or Aidiladha, falls on Friday, 31 July 2020.

May I call upon the Muslim community in Singapore to continue enlivening these holy days in worship, obedience, and goodness. Let us reflect on the meaning of sacrifice behind Aidiladha, an occasion we will celebrate during these continuing challenging circumstances that will require us to make adjustments. May we be granted strength, comfort and solace during these times.
