500 participants from across faith communities come together at the 16th Harmony Games

Annual interfaith sporting event strengthens friendships and trust across communities through sport.

  1. About 500 participants from Singapore’s diverse religious and community groups came together at Our Tampines Hub earlier on 13 September 2026 for the 16th Harmony Games, strengthening friendships and trust through sports and shared experiences.

  2. Themed “United in Motion”, this year’s Harmony Games was jointly organised by the Taoist Federation Singapore and Harmony Centre, with the support of An-Nahdhah Mosque. The event brought together religious leaders across faith communities, members of Harmony Circle, youths and members of the public.

  3. Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Education, Mr David Neo, graced the event as Guest-of-Honour and flagged off a community brisk walk with participants from different faith groups, to mark the start of the Games.

  4. Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Minister David Neo said "Sport brings people together through shared experiences. By playing, competing and working alongside one another in these Harmony Games, participants from different faiths and backgrounds get to make new friends, know one another better, and build trust across our different communities. I thank our apex religious organisations for championing and organising the Harmony Games, so our youths get this opportunity to connect, and carry this spirit of mutual respect beyond the games into their daily lives."

Moving together, growing together

  1. Participants took part in a range of sporting activities including basketball, badminton, a brisk walk, stretching, taiji, and sports-related eGames. More than friendly competition, the Games gave participants of different faiths, ages and backgrounds opportunities to interact as teammates, competitors and peers.

  2. The Harmony Games was first launched in 2008 and has since been hosted by different religious communities in Singapore. The Games provides an informal platform for people of different faiths to meet and forge friendships through sport, complementing Singapore’s broader interfaith dialogue and engagement efforts.

  3. This year’s joint organisation by the Taoist Federation Singapore and Harmony Centre reflects the same spirit of collaboration that the Games seeks to foster. Through such partnerships and shared experiences, religious communities can deepen mutual understanding and strengthen the relationships that contribute to Singapore’s social cohesion.
