Acting Minister Faishal to lead 900 Singapore pilgrims on Haj 2026/1447H
25 April 2026
New coordinated flight system and mandatory Nusuk Cards enhance safety measures for Haj pilgrimage.
Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs (Ag MMA) Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim will lead Singapore’s Haj delegation to Makkah and Madinah this year. All 900 Haj places have been filled, and visa processes are already completed.
The announcement was made today during the Haj 2026/1447H pre-departure session conducted by the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) with support from the Association of Muslim Travel Agents Singapore (AMTAS) to prepare pilgrims for their upcoming journey.
First-time coordinated departures
The preparations for this year’s Haj have been underway for some time. In a new initiative this year, pilgrims from Singapore will depart and return together, across three direct flights to and from Saudi Arabia. This approach will enable better coordination of pilgrim movements and more efficient Haj operations.
Enhanced safety preparations
All Singapore Haj pilgrims will be issued the mandatory Nusuk Card before departure. This is an official document in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that contains personal information, provides access to holy sites, and includes accommodation and transportation details to support pilgrims throughout their pilgrimage.
MUIS is working closely with AMTAS, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health, the Saudi embassy and Saudi Haj authorities to ensure a safe pilgrimage experience.
At the pre-departure session, Ag MMA was presented with the Nusuk Card in a symbolic handover by His Excellency Eng. Badr Abdulmohsen Iraqi, Board Member of AlMasiah Company. The session also featured a Haj Forum by the Office of the Mufti, titled "Ibadah Haji: Perjalanan Jasmani, Penyucian Rohani", with the Mufti of Singapore Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir and Ustaz Ahmad Dahri as panellists.
The session also included a briefing by AMTAS, covering Haj-related services in Saudi Arabia, including accommodation, transportation, and Masyair camp arrangements, as well as practical tips for a smooth journey, and health and safety measures to observe during the pilgrimage. It was also attended by representatives of appointed Haj service providers from Saudi Arabia and senior MUIS leadership.
