Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs to attend 21st MABIMS meeting in Malaysia, 16 to 19 October

Assoc Prof Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim joins regional counterparts from Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia to strengthen cooperation.
Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs, Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim will attend the 21st Unofficial Meeting of Religious Affairs Ministers of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (MABIMS) from 16 to 19 October 2025 in Malacca, Malaysia. This will be his first MABIMS meeting in his capacity as Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs.
Established in 1989, MABIMS serves as a biennial regional platform that brings together Islamic religious authorities from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore to enhance the socio-religious well-being of Muslim communities across Southeast Asia through strategic collaboration and shared initiatives. During the Ministerial Meeting, Assoc Prof Faishal will meet his counterparts from Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia to discuss and strengthen regional collaboration on religious affairs.
As part of the official 21st MABIMS programme, Assoc Prof Faishal will participate in a forum to discuss ways to foster deeper understanding on contemporary religious leadership and shared strategies among MABIMS countries.
During his trip, Assoc Prof Faishal will also be attending the opening of the MABIMS Melaka International Halal Festival 2025 as a special guest, which will be held in conjunction with the MABIMS Ministerial meeting.
Senior Officials Meeting
Preceding the Ministerial Meeting, Deputy Chief Executive of MUIS, Mr Khairul Anwar, will lead the Singapore delegation at the 49th Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) of MABIMS from 15 to 16 October 2025. The SOM, which convenes annually, serves as a key platform to review the implementation of previous decisions and formulate recommendations for the MABIMS ministerial meeting. Mufti of Singapore, Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir, will also participate in the programme and deliver remarks at a seminar held in conjunction with the SOM.
MUIS’s participation in MABIMS Halal Summit
In addition, MUIS representatives, including experts and technical staff, will participate in the MABIMS Halal Summit on 18 October 2025, which brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and religious authorities under the MABIMS framework to discuss ways to strengthen the regional halal ecosystem. As part of the Summit, MUIS will also take part in the Halal Technical Meeting, which focuses on aligning halal standards and improving cooperation among member countries.
