Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
5 November 2025
Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs (Ag MMA) and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs, Assoc Prof Faishal Ibrahim, will be on a working visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from 6 to 11 November 2025. The visit - his first to Saudi Arabia and Jordan as Ag MMA - aims to strengthen Singapore’s bilateral engagements and explore future collaborations.
In Saudi Arabia, Assoc Prof Faishal will attend the annual Hajj and Umrah Exhibition and Conference, organised by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. He will meet Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, His Excellency Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, to discuss preparations for the upcoming Haj season. Both Ministers are expected to sign the Haj Agreement for Haj season 2026.
As part of the visit, Assoc Prof Faishal will visit key Haj holy sites in Makkah and engage with Singapore College of Islamic Studies (SCIS) Advisory Panel members in both countries. His engagements will include meetings with Professor Koutoub Moustapha Sano, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-kilani, Dean of the School of Shariah at the University of Jordan in Amman. These meetings aim to reaffirm the strong partnership between the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) and SCIS Advisory Panel members.
In Jordan, Assoc Prof Faishal will be witnessing a symbolic handover ceremony for Singapore’s donation of prosthetic products to Jordan’s Restoring Hope initiative, in aid of Palestinians amputees affected by the conflict in Gaza.
Assoc Prof Faishal is also scheduled to engage with Singaporean students who are pursuing tertiary education in Madinah, Saudi Arabia and Amman, Jordan.
Assoc Prof Faishal will be accompanied by Deputy Chief Executive of MUIS, Mr Azree Rahim, and senior Government officials.
