Cybersecurity incident affecting Avelogic's HR and payroll system and clients across different sectors

Alternative payroll arrangements are in place to ensure affected mosque and madrasah employees continue to receive their salaries on time, with no disruption to religious or public-facing services. A Police report was made and no ransom was paid. Investigations and security checks are ongoing.

  1. The cybersecurity incident affected Avelogic’s HR and payroll system and its clients across different sectors. In the community sector, this includes 48 mosques, four madrasahs, Islamic Learning Hub and Management Office (ILHAM) and Mosque-Madrasah-Wakaf Shared Services (MMWSS). A Police report was made and no ransom was paid. Avelogic is continuing its investigation into the incident and its wider impact.  

  2. MUIS is concerned about the impact on these organisations and their employees. MUIS is working with the affected institutions to ensure that employees will continue to receive their salaries on time. Alternative payroll arrangements are already in place, and there has been no disruption to religious or public-facing services. 

  3. Avelogic has since recovered the affected data and engaged independent cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident. Based on the investigation to date, there is no evidence that a large amount of data was taken from the system. Data stored in the affected system is also encrypted as an additional layer of protection.  Investigations and security checks are ongoing, and the system will only resume operations after the relevant safeguards and checks have been completed.

  4. MUIS will continue to support the affected community sector organisations to ensure essential HR and payroll functions continue without disruption.
