MUIS launches QuranSG to move Muslim community beyond recitation towards everyday Quranic reflection
6 June 2026
New taddabur e-book and island-wide roadshow to bring Quranic reflection to mosques across Singapore
The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) launched QuranSG at Kampung Siglap Mosque on Saturday, 6 June 2026. About 150 participants attended the event with Mufti of Singapore, Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir gracing the event. The launch marked the beginning of a series of programmes over six months aimed at deepening the Muslim community’s engagement with the Quran – going beyond recitation and memorisation towards understanding, reflection and application.
Speaking at the launch, Mufti of Singapore Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir emphasised the importance of translating Quranic learning into practice, saying, "The true measure of our relationship with the Quran is how we translate the Quran's guidance into our character, our actions and our contribution to humanity." He noted that QuranSG seeks to nurture a community that not only recites and memorises the Quran but also reflects upon and embodies its teachings in everyday life.
A New Resource for Deeper Reflection
Central to this year’s launch is the introduction of the Tadabbur E-Book, a first of its kind digital resource developed by MUIS in collaboration with Darul Tafsir, Al-Khair Mosque. Designed as a simple and practical guide for everyday Muslims, the e-booklet introduces tadabbur in a beginner-friendly way by explaining what tadabbur is, why it matters, and how to begin safely through a step-by-step approach that moves readers from recitation to understanding and application in life. It is available online at go.gov.sg/tadabbursg-ebook26.
Rallying the Community with Series of Spiritual Programmes
Building on the new e-book, the QuranSG Roadshow will bring Quranic reflection to mosques across all districts in Singapore from May to September 2026. Led by local asatizah, dedicated tadabbur segments will be woven into mosque programmes, making this a whole-of-mosque effort to nurture a reflective community.
The TadabburSG competition invites the wider public to participate in a 50-day community challenge, encouraging individuals to share personal reflections through their video submissions on Quranic verses from 29 May to 20 July 2026. Interested participants can submit their videos via the online form at go.gov.sg/tadabbur.
For those seeking deeper engagement, the TadabburSG Talkshow Series will feature four sessions at mosques across Singapore, conducted in both Malay and English. The sessions will be held on 10 July at Al-Khair Mosque, 24 July at An-Nur Mosque, 7 Aug at Al-Falah Mosque and 4 Sept at Al-Istighfar Mosque. Anchored by key surahs such as Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Kahfi, and guided by the Tadabbur Framework in the e-book, the sessions will be led by Darul Tafsir asatizah to make Quranic learning relevant to everyday life.
Celebrating Excellence in Quranic Recitation and Memorisation
The Tahfiz and Tilawah Al-Quran competition continues to be a key platform for recognising excellence in Quranic memorisation and recitation among youth and adults. The Tahfiz finals were held on 6 June 2026 following the QuranSG launch at Kampung Siglap Mosque, while the Tilawah finals will be held on 16 August at Sultan Mosque, in conjunction with the QuranSG Festival.
The six-month QuranSG initiative will culminate in the QuranSG Seminar and Festival in November, bringing together scholars and the community in a celebration of Quranic learning and discourse.
