QuranSG 2026 explores how Quranic teachings can guide Muslims on AI, environment and global conflicts
25 October 2026
Five-month season draws about 15,000 programme attendances, encouraging deeper understanding and reflection on the Quran
How can Quranic teachings help Muslims navigate emerging technologies, environmental challenges and global conflicts? These questions were explored at the QuranSG Seminar 2026, which brought together around 400 participants, including asatizah and members of the public, at Suntec Convention Centre on 24 October 2026. The seminar marked the conclusion of the five-month QuranSG 2026 season, which encouraged Muslims to deepen their understanding of the Quran and reflect on its relevance to everyday life.
Held from June to October 2026, QuranSG 2026 recorded an estimated cumulative attendance of 15,000 participants across its programmes and initiatives. These included the Majlis Tilawah, Tahfiz and Tartil Al-Quran (MTTTQ) national competition, Tadabbur Talk Shows, community roadshows and the QuranSG Festival. Together, these initiatives encouraged Muslims to engage with the Quran not only through recitation, but also through understanding its meanings, reflecting on its teachings and applying them in daily life.
QuranSG seminar 2026: Applying Quranic wisdom to contemporary challenges
Centred on the theme of tadabbur in a changing world, the seminar encouraged participants to practise tadabbur (reflecting on the meanings and teachings of the Quran) and consider how these principles can guide their decisions and actions in a changing world.
The seminar commenced with a Quranic recitation by Ms Alia Husna, winner of the 58th MTTTQ competition held in August 2026. Co-Chairman of QuranSG 2026, Ustaz Rashid Ramli, delivered opening remarks, followed by an opening address by Mufti Dr Nazirudin Mohd Nasir.
International guest speaker Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Bin Musa, from the Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), delivered a presentation on engaging meaningfully with the Quran. Drawing on classical Islamic scholarship and contemporary perspectives, he discussed approaches to understanding Quranic teachings and reflecting on their relevance to everyday situations.
Exploring AI, environmental responsibility and peace through Quranic teachings
For the first time, the QuranSG Seminar featured thematic breakout sessions examining three contemporary issues: artificial intelligence (AI), environmental sustainability, and peace and conflict. The sessions brought together speakers with religious and professional expertise to explore how Quranic principles can inform responsible choices and responses to these issues. Details of the breakout room themes and speaker details can be found in Annex A.
Following the breakout sessions, participants reconvened for a closing plenary facilitated by Darul Tafsir. The plenary brought together insights from the three discussions and encouraged participants to consider how Quranic values can guide their responses to challenges in their personal lives, communities and the wider world.
Bringing Quranic learning closer to the community
The QuranSG Festival, held alongside the seminar, provided another avenue for participants to explore Islamic knowledge and culture through books, calligraphy, Arabic language learning, arts and crafts, and other activities. The festival brought together 11 community vendors and partners, complementing the seminar's emphasis on making Quranic learning accessible and engaging.
The conclusion of QuranSG 2026 reinforces MUIS's ongoing efforts to encourage meaningful engagement with the Quran across the community. By promoting Quranic literacy and tadabbur, MUIS seeks to help Muslims strengthen their understanding of the Quran and draw guidance from its teachings in navigating everyday life and contemporary challenges.
