18 December 2025
Strong performance reinforces madrasah's established excellence in dual-curriculum approach
The International Baccalaureate Organisation has released the results of the 2025 International Baccalaureate Diploma Programmes (IBDP) examinations, with Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah announcing the results on 18 December 2025. All 15 students from the Azhar-IB track at Madrasah Aljunied passed their IBDP examinations and have been conferred the Bilingual Diploma1 in the International Baccalaureate Programme. Madrasah Aljunied celebrates the holistic education its students have experienced through the programme, which is in line with its educational philosophy that focuses on nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped for future challenges.
Apart from the IBDP qualification, students in the Azhar-IB track will also be conferred the Aliyah Diploma upon completion of their pre-university examinations later this year. These qualifications are part of MUIS’s efforts to enhance madrasah education and provide students with more opportunities to continue their Islamic Studies journey at both traditional Islamic universities and other tertiary institutions that accept the IB Diploma as part of their admission criteria.
Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs, Assoc Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim said: “Congratulations to all IBDP students who received their results today including the 15 graduates from Madrasah Aljunied’s Azhar-IB track who have been conferred the Bilingual Diploma. Achieving the Bilingual Diploma while pursuing rigorous Islamic studies is a significant accomplishment. This milestone reinforces our vision of nurturing religious scholars and leaders who can navigate modern complexities while remaining firmly rooted in Islamic values. I am confident that our madrasah education system has prepared our graduates to pursue further studies at traditional Islamic universities and other tertiary institutions, opening diverse pathways for them to contribute meaningfully to our community and nation.”
One of the graduates, Ahmad Eimran Darwisy Bin Mohammad Suhaimi, reiterated this dual pathway in his aspirations: "After completing the IBDP, I aspire to pursue Islamic Jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University in Cairo. This choice is rooted in my deep commitment to Islamic Studies and my wish to contribute meaningfully to the Muslim community in Singapore in the future. To ensure I am comprehensively equipped to tackle contemporary issues, I also plan to leverage my IB diploma to pursue a second degree, specifically in Civil Law or Psychology. This dual pursuit allows me to create an interdisciplinary profile that will help me bridge the gap between religion and modern life."
IBDP at Madrasah Aljunied
The IBDP complements the Islamic Studies programme at the pre-university level in Madrasah Aljunied, equipping future asatizah with essential 21st-century skills. This comprehensive curriculum prepares students for university and cultivates the intellectual rigour needed in future religious scholars and leaders in Singapore. The programme enables students to address contemporary challenges and provide meaningful and informed guidance to their communities.
Madrasah Aljunied became an IB candidate school in September 2016 and was authorised as an IB World School in October 2018, before commencing the IBDP in 2019. This year’s cohort is the sixth batch of IB students from the madrasah. The subjects offered to students include Malay A: Literature, Arabic B, English B, Global Politics, Environmental Systems and Societies, Chemistry, and Mathematics: Application and Interpretation alongside the three IB core components2. These subjects were selected to complement the Islamic Studies subjects.
