MUIS is deeply saddened by the passing of Cikgu Haji Mohamed Yusuf
The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) is saddened by the passing of Cikgu Haji Mohamed Yusuf bin Haji Ahmad Zuhri.
Almarhum served as the Director of Religious Education at MUIS from 1984 to 1985. During his tenure, he oversaw the development of the religious education curriculum for primary and secondary levels. He also led efforts to prepare a pool of religious education teachers by training Malay Language teachers to deliver the curriculum in national schools, with support from the late Ustaz Abdillah Aljufri and Associate Professor Abbas Sharif.
Almarhum Cikgu Haji Mohamed Yusuf later continued contributing to the Islamic education landscape as a member of the Madrasah Irsyad Zuhri Al-Islamiah Management Committee. The committee endorsed the madrasah’s inclusion in the Joint Madrasah System in 2008, and he went on to serve as one of the founding members of its Board of Governors.
In recognition of his lifelong contributions to Islamic education, Almarhum later received the Madrasah Leaders Award during MUIS’s 50th Anniversary in 2018.
Our heartfelt condolences to his family. May Allah s.w.t. forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and grant him the highest ranks in Jannah.
Al-Fatihah.
