Study Grant 2020 for MSc in Asian Studies Programme by S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (NTU)

The PGS Secretariat is offering limited grants to eligible asatizah (religious teachers/scholars) to undertake a new MSC in Asian Studies programme offered by RSIS (NTU). The 2020 academic year is from July 2020-May 2021. This programme will offer a multidisciplinary and wider perspective in the study of religions, Islamic traditions, religious diversity and its policy implications, which support Muis’ objectives of developing asatizah as modern and progressive religious leaders for the community. This programme aims to help students:

  • Obtain the necessary empirical knowledge and analytical perspectives required to become leaders in various professions related to Asian affairs
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the dynamic changes and new trends in Asia, using approaches rooted in disciplines of history, comparative politics, international relations and economics
  • Acquire various analytical tools and historical perspectives to facilitate development of expertise on emerging Asian political, economic and security issues on multiple levels

Please email the documents in PDF format to academy@muis.gov.sg (the entire size of the document should not exceed 1MB). All documents must be categorized appropriately (according to the Annexes as highlighted in para (V) page 3 of the application form). Only application forms which bear the original signature of the applicant are accepted.

Selection Process & Notification of Results

All applicants will be assessed and only shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Muis Scholarship Committee.

Proof of admission into the programme must be produced at the time of the scheduled interview or upon award of the study grant, if successful.

We regret that only shortlisted applicants will be notified of the result of their application. The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore does not enter into correspondence with regards to the reasons of non-selection of candidates. The decision made by the Committee is final and appeals will not be entertained.

This grant will cover up to 90% of tuition fees, related academic fees, allowance and optional exchange programmes.
