Self Reflection Shapes a Mukmin's Character

  • Making mistakes and committing sins are part of human nature. However, fortunate is he who learns from his mistakes and is determined to improve for the better.
  • We are encouraged to reflect upon our strengths and weaknesses, and find room for improvement. Good deeds and positive values are reinforced, whereas mistakes are rectified.
  • Certainly, self-reflecting is not an easy thing to do. We have to analyse ourselves and admit our flaws and errors. However, by doing so, it makes us feel remorseful and ashamed so that we do not want to repeat doing the same wrong things. This is what is known as taubat, or repentance.
