Appreciating Tradition in Religious Life

  • An act or saying becomes a tradition when it evolves into a norm that is accepted and practised by society, race or community. Tradition indirectly influences our lifestyle be it cultural practices such as the custom of seeking forgiveness during Hari Raya, or the act of offering our seats to senior citizens and pregnant women in public transportation.

  • Each time tradition is discussed, several questions will linger on our minds. What is the religious opinion with regards to tradition? Is it in line with religion or otherwise?

  • In order to answer these questions, the Friday sermons throughout this month will focus on issues pertaining to tradition and religion. With hopes that we may form an accurate understanding of the relationship between tradition and religion.
