Emulating Rasulullah’s Relationship with Children

  • When we speak of the Prophet’s character and mannerisms, there is one important aspect that we ought to emulate and ponder upon its lessons. And that is the trait of  love and compassion love that Rasulullah s.a.w. displayed towards children, and his concern towards their growth and development.

  • Islam highlights the importance of instilling love and compassion in our families, especially towards children. Such values should not be limited to children of our own, but to any children who are in dire need of love, care and compassion. Islam strongly emphasises caring for orphans and children who have been neglected. We are all aware that Rasulullah s.a.w himself was an orphan who was lovingly raised by his grandfather and his uncle.

  • Caring for orphans holds much significance in Islam such that Allah s.w.t promised a great reward to those who undertake this responsibility. Rasulullah s.a.w. once mentioned that those who care for orphans will be together with him in Paradise.
